Vape Duty Levy - Status Page

The Government is introducing a new tax on vaping, the Vape Duty Levy, from 1st October 2026.  Prices will not rise immediately, as we are allowed six months to sell through our duty-free stock.

We have increased the stock we hold at duty-free prices to last as long as possible over the next six months, until 31st March 2027.  The stock is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we cannot guarantee how long it will last.  We are hoping to last past Christmas, but that depends on demand.

The Vape Duty Levy will increase costs on all e-liquids, whether containing nicotine or not by £2.64 per 10ml, inclusive of VAT.

How much will e-liquids cost when the vape duty levy is applied?

  • These are some examples:
  • Our ZJuice nic-salt, with full discount, is currently £2.50 per bottle.  After duty, it would be £5.15
  • A £12.99 shortfill with two nic-shots free would be around £40-£45 (12x £2.64 duty tax added)

Are these prices historically high?

  • Strangely enough, these new duty prices are not the highest.
  • When vaping first started going mainstream, in about 2011, a 10ml would cost £4.99 and a shortfill £25.  Accounting for inflation, that is the equivalent of £7.66 per 10ml, and £38.38 for a shortfill in today's money.  Vaping just got much cheaper as it went mainstream.

Will you still do free nic-shots?

  • Unfortunately not; a £1 nic-shot will cost £3.65, and it would not be possible to give these away free.

Will the duty apply to nicotine-free e-liquids?

  • Yes, all liquids, including nicotine-free, plain vape bases, flavourings, PG & VG

Will you be selling DIY liquids?

  • No, we will stop.  The tax is so extreme that a 500ml bottle of VG, which is currently £4.99, would cost about £135, as it would have a tax of 50x £2.64 applied to it.
  • Buying VG at, for instance, Boots or a non-vaping supplier, not sold for vaping purposes, would not have the tax applied.  We suggest sourcing PG & VG elsewhere.  Be aware: shop for food-grade / pharma grade, you would not want to vape industrial stuff.
  • We may sell pure flavouring long-fills, highly concentrated; then you would need to source your own PG & VG.

Can I just import e-liquids from outside the UK?

  • If customs catches it, you would need to pay the duty.
  • If you are coming in from abroad, e.g from holiday, there is a 50ml allowance.  Anything over 50ml must be declared, and duty paid.

Will you be selling shortfills?

  • We are considering it, but we expect demand to decline. Shortfills are already dying out as people have moved to pod kits.  With a bottle costing £40, we cannot foresee many people staying on shortfills.
